Note:
New voice in the MPHO taxonomy: Organs/Composite tissues grafts/Face (Evi) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Agree with adding face transplant to the overall organ transplant taxonomy. This paper summarizes two case reports that were not necessarily unexpected transmissions of CMV, D+/R- (despite prophylaxis) and the risk for CMV transmission is not new information in SOT. While the development despite prophylaxis and the possible need for future prolonged prophylaxis in FT recipients is suggested in this paper, the authors also state that with two cases one cannot summarize. While this bears further evaluation for the future should facial transplants become more common, I suggest that rather than have a separate listing for this paper, we add the paper to the library, and add the facial transplant to the general list of organs for which CMV is transmitted---as in consolidate this information with other case reports of CMV in SOT in D+/R- cases despite prophylaxis. Same for Lung separate from SOT. Recommend we consolidate all under SOT. ------------------------------------------- Since there are different MPHOs involved it is necessary to create separate records (Evi)

This paper summarizes two case reports that were not necessarily unexpected transmissions of CMV, D+/R- (despite prophylaxis) and the risk for CMV transmission is not new information in solid organ transplantation. While the development despite prophylaxis and the possible need for future prolonged prophylaxis in face transplantation recipients is suggested in this paper, the authors also state that with two cases one cannot summarize.
