Abstract

We report a case of Mycobacterium abscessus infection of the hands in a 55 year old lady following hand rejuvenation with structural fat grafting. A review of the literature on M. abscessus infection to discuss common presentations, diagnosis and treatment is presented. Awareness and high suspicion of such as atypical mycobacterial infections complicating hand surgery and other plastic surgery procedures is imperative to successful management.
