Demonstration of imputability or root cause:
Recipient: pretransplant serum sample for cryptococcal specific antibodies and liver biopsy were negative. Two weeks after orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT): cryptococcus-like yeast in liver biopsy performed for hyperbilirubinemia and blood culture positive for Cryptococcus neoformans. Pretransplant donor liver biopsy negative.
