Infected intrabadominal hematoma with Enterococcus faecalis was diagnosed on day +9 after transplantation.
Demonstration of imputability or root cause:
Donor was on hemodyalisis. Blood cultures were persistently positive during 6 days at admission for Enterococcus faecalis. Donation was performed on day +17 with blood cultures negative. The isolate from the donor was confirmed to be indistinguishable from that of the liver recipient by PFGE (pulsed field gel electrophoresis).
