Allergic reaction with skin rash and laryngeal dyspnea following ingestion of peanuts
Demonstration of imputability or root cause:
Donor with a history of allergic reactions to peanuts. No peanut allergy known in the recipient before transplantation. Allergy to peanuts was diagnosed on the basis of the clinical findings. There was absence of specific IgE antibodies before transplantation, their presence at the time the symptoms appeared, and their decline thereafter. Positive basophil degranulation test. Migration of donor-derived cells into the recipient’s skin is suggested by the presence of microchimerism in the skin (site of the allergic reaction). Second recipient from the same donor without signs of allergy transfer.
