Donor specimen collected prior to transplantation but results unavailable until after transplantation. Weak positive PCR at 3 weeks during surveillance cultures. After starting treatment; following surveillance testing all negative. Recipient remained asymptomatic.
Demonstration of imputability or root cause: 
Donor tested positive by Ortho T. cruzi antibody assay; All recipients monitored with PCR and antibody testing with heart recipient being the only patient with positive test results (other organs transplanted included liver and two kidneys). Recipient treated with Benznidazole and no symptoms or problems on 24 month follow-up.
