Alerting signals, symptoms, evidence of occurrence:
Lethargy, ataxia, nausea developed 18 months after second corneal transplantation. Deteriorated rapidly and died 8 months after onset. Autopsy confirmed CJD. Donor was 55 year old male who died of CJD confirmed at autopsy.

Level 4. Certain. CJD was confirmed at autopsy in both the donor and the cornea recipient
