Fever, altered mental status associated with a pancytopenia, hepatosplenomegaly, and neurologic signs.
Demonstration of imputability or root cause: 
Blood smear; marrow aspiration showed P. falciparum parasites and proliferation of mature histiocytes with hemophagocytosis. First reported case by malaria after BMT.
