Several studies prospectively followed seronegative kidney transplant recipients of seropositive donors. In sum they report on 48 kidney transplant recipients of which 2 had symptomatic disease (fever 5 and 23 weeks post-transplant); 6 had positive blood smears from trypanosomes post-transplant, all of which received treatment

Likely T cruzi transmission since donors were T cruzi seropositive and recipients seronegative at time of transplant
