Within 2 weeks of applying a sheet of autologous cultured, expanded skin, the site became inflamed and ulcerated. Infection was not thought to be the cause. Failure secondary to an uncertain cause.

Possibility of recipient tissue reaction to residues of chemicals used during autologous skin culturing.
