Anemia. Donors and recipients tested as part of a study looking at Parvovirus B19 prevalance. Only recipients who were anemic tested positive for Parvovirus B19.
Demonstration of imputability or root cause:
Donors and recipients were tested. In two recipients negative for B19 infection before renal transplant who received transplants from the donors with B19 infection, viral genomic sequence in plasma DNA and IgM class antibodies associated with primary viral infection were detected.
