8 year old female with severe anemia due to malaria transfused an RPR-reactive unit of blood unit that had 1 day refrigerated storage time, had post-transfusion fever with negative blood cultures, and seroconverted RPR. No known sexual history or clinical evidence of yaws.
Demonstration of imputability or root cause:
Seroconversion after receiving an RPR-reactive unit of blood. TPHA and RPR conversion pre- vs post-transfusion.
