Alerting signals, symptoms, evidence of occurrence: 
Postoperatively, surveillance blood cultures from the liver recipient were positive for MSSA (methicillin-sensitive Staphylococcus aureus) after 20 - 21 h of incubation.
Demonstration of imputability or root cause: 
The isolate from the recipient was confirmed to be indistinguishable from the donor isolate by PFGE. No evidence of postoperative infection in the other recipients from the same donor.
