The patient presented fever and severe anemia after orthotopic liver transplantation. Diagnosis was made only after the review of donor characteristics. Although a high parasitemia was found at the moment of diagnosis, the treatment with quinine and doxycycline was successful. Donor epidemiology should always be considered for a prompt diagnosis of rare tropical diseases in the graft recipients. %B Liver Transpl %V 12 %P 674 - 6 %8 Apr %G eng %N 4 %M 16555320 %R 10.1002/lt.20730
